Together we are stronger!
Join our growing community of shelters and safe haven programs and allies from across the country for shared learning and community in support of women, children, youth and families experiencing homelessness. We are the last and final safety net for millions of women, children, youth and families in transition, the majority of whom are victims of violence and other crimes. National, regional, state and local associations, networks and coalitions of shelters and safe haven programs are welcome in the NWSN. We are a movement to advance the status of women, children, youth and families experiencing homelessness in our nation and to end and prevent homelessness. We are your voice on capitol hill
For too long the voices of homeless shelters and safe havens have been silent or disregarded. The result has been devastating for the shelter systems across the nation and the vulnerable women, children, youth and families we serve. The NWSN’s public policy initiatives aim to change that narrative, to advocate for policies that advance the status of women, children, youth and families experiencing homelessness, raise awareness of the intersections of violence and abuse, trauma and homelessness, and provide more resources for women, children, youth and families and the shelters and programs that serve them.
The NWSN tent is large, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and nonpartisan, welcoming faith based and non-denominational organizations alike. We are committed to ending and preventing homelessness and understand the solutions are multifaceted and include a strong, resource enriched shelter system to support women, children, youth and families in transition. We agree to work together collegially and focus on our shared agenda, mission and service for the sake of the women, youth, children and families we serve. We understand lives are at stake. We want to transform homelessness into windows of opportunity in shelters across America.
